The variety show not the reality show made stars of people
If you are old enough to remember shows like Ed Sullivan, then you know that sometimes they would introduce new talent to the public. Some of these people went on to be big stars and performers. It was a time when you could set back and not be grossed out by all the crappy reality shows on tv.
Life has enough problems without bring then to tv. The idea of tv should be to inform and also to take us away from reality from time to time. The variety show format was a no-brainer, you could watch various types of talent and become introduced to new music and dance. It may be time for the networks to take a look at a format that would cost them no more than the worthless reality format.

Just a note about variety shows

Although variety shows seem to be a thing of the past, there were a lot of performers that got their starts on different variety shows. And those that were already famous were able to showcase their talents of add veteran stars to a show in order to give the show different flavors.
Personally I find a lot of the reality shows to be getting pretty tired. We live reality every single day. Tv was always a place of escape where you could watch your favorite stars or just get into an hour drama.

Re-dress
Lucky me

As a young man growning up in one of the best generations we experienced many wonderful things. The music, the adventure and a sense of heading down uncharted territory. After all our parents were the Guy Lombardo generation. We were the wild bunch. One of the best birthday presents I ever received was getting to dance on stage with my teen-age heart throb. Joey Heatherton was a show stopper. Any young man who grow up in the 60's and 70' were probably drooling over her. And why not, my dads generation had Rita Hayworth, Ginger Rodgers, and we had Joey Heatherton, Raquel Welch, Lola Falana and Ann Margaret. I hope you enjoy these golden oldie pictures as much as I did participating in them, by the was the date of this show was Nov 7 1977 at the Notre Dame Atheletic and convocation center in South Bend, In
